Hayden founded Wainui Environmental in 2014 with a vision of creating a niche civil and environmental consultancy, providing innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions to both the public and private sectors. Being located in Raglan is a great opportunity for our team to balance family time, enjoy the great surf and also get projects out the door. Hayden has 20 years of experience in civil, stormwater and land development related projects within professional engineering consultancies. He has been responsible for construction, investigation, analysis, design, planning and project management of private development and infrastructure projects.

With a background in structural engineering, Hayley bringsa breadth of knowledge of the construction industry to the team. Hayley takes a special interest in project managing construction at the local school and local development projects.

James has been with Wainui Environmental since the beginning and is a highly valued member of our team helping to create our hard-working client focussed office culture. James is a Civil and Environmental engineer with over thirteen years of experience in Land Development and stormwater management design projects. He has been responsible for all aspects of projects from masterplanning, catchment management, consenting, design, management and construction supervision. James is Studio Wainui’s specialist for complex urban stormwater management and design.

Andrew is a licensed Cadastral Surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in land development. He has had extensive involvement in land development projects throughout the Waikato Region spanning from small to large residential developments, rural and rural residential developments, road upgrades, state highway projects and windfarms. His commitment and adeptness contribute significantly to the success of these projects. Andrews comprehensive knowledge and practical skills make him a valuable asset in the intricate landscape of land development sector. 

Richard has around 23 years’ experience in the environmental planning field working with central government departments, district councils, regional councils and for the past 13 years in the private consulting sector. He has been responsible for both processing, applying for and undertaking compliance monitoring on numerous large-scale complex resource consent projects requiring a high level of technical expertise including state highway projects and windfarms. Richard's key strengths are his expert knowledge of best practice environmental management requirements for land development projects and his skills in consultation and engagement.

Anna has worked in a range of environmental science and management roles over the last 10+ years here in New Zealand as well as in Australia. Most recently, Anna has been working with the Waipa community on soil conservation projects and engaging farmers in waterway restoration works.

Jono has more than 20 years experience in the construction sector, including the design, construction and management of various residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Prior to his arrival in Raglan in 2018, he was the director of a large company operating in the energy and construction sectors. Since his arrival at Wainui, Jono has been responsible for the project management of Raglan's Rangitahi Peninsula development as well as various projects across the Waikato. His extensive building background is a valuable asset along with people and project management, business relationships and planning and implementation across various industries and disciplines.

Marta is a Civil and Environmental Engineer with 8 years of New Zealand experience. She is focused on Stormwater Management and her main experience is in hydrology and hydraulic modelling and stormwater management and drainage design. She has worked on projects related to land development, roading, catchment analysis and flood hazard mapping.

Kate’s background is in Water Engineering. She brings to Wainui Environmental the technical assessment of water, wastewater and stormwater engineering issues. The specialist input Kate provides includes water impact assessments, engineering design, wastewater and stormwater capacity assessments, on-site wastewater treatment and disposal, stormwater mitigation design and flood assessment reports.

Ted is a civil engineer with 10 years of experience in the private and public sectors. He has experience in planning, investigation, design, construction, and project management in the civil, environmental, and geotechnical engineering sectors as well as operating and maintaining large-scale water supply infrastructure in the Auckland Region. Alongside working as an engineer, Ted has experience managing risk in mountain environments. He has been a member of the Whakapapa Ski Patrol for the last 5 winters where he manages avalanche hazards, provides first aid, and undertakes alpine rescue.

Colm has been working as an environmental planner in Raglan since January 2023. He has experience in a wide range of planning matters including preparing and processing resource consent applications as well as consent compliance and monitoring. He strives for continual professional development and never shies away from challenging work. Before his work in planning, Colm managed a charitable trust that supported individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Caleb joins the studio with a range of work experience in different industries. Calebs background in architectural design and draughting offers a wealth of knowledge to support the Civil and Land Development Team.

Mel brings to Wainui Environmental many years of experience in finance and administration. She spent 10 years in the States with her family working in the entertainment industry as a Lighting Director and Finance Manager. Prior to that, she worked in various finance and administrative roles for the public sector, not-for-profit, and early childhood education. From supporting music artists to supporting engineers, Mel will tell you it can all be done with a good spreadsheet and a coffee.
